In colder environments, such as in the Netherlands, you usually have two generations per year.
When a moth lays eggs and the larva hatches, it takes 2 to 6 months for the larva to reach maturity and fledge, depending on the type of moth.

3 tips to tackle the moth infestation yourself
- Fighting moths with vinegar: this is one of the most effective means to get rid of the moth yourself in Amsterdam.
Make sure you mix the water/vinegar ratio – 1:1. - Place mothballs: If you find out that the moth mainly hides in your wardrobe, then you are probably dealing with the clothes moth.
To combat the clothes moth, you can buy special mothballs at, for example, the Kruidvat.
Make sure that you first clear the entire hive of moth and larva and wipe every inch of the hive with a mix of water and vinegar (see tip 1). - Buy a special moth spray: make sure you read the leaflet before you buy the spray.
There are different types of sprays for sale (sprays with a natural pesticide and sprays with a non-natural pesticide and therefore bad for people and your clothes).
We recommend buying the natural pesticide.
